Snow in Africa.
Frugal snows usually fall on the Hex River, Boland, Cederberg and Matroosberg Mountain Ranges. However, this year of 2020 has seen snow falling to below 2000m on these ranges which is unusual and has amounted to a remarkably cold winter country wide.
In contrast are the budding flower fields in the valleys and areas around Vredendal, Vanryhnsdorp, and the Biedouw Valley. This carpet of colour and amazement, an expression of nature’s amazing grace, will be viewed by the fortunate locals and missed by the normally uncountable tourists who flock to witness this yearly spectacle.
The times will return, though, when all can oooh and aaah over these colour palettes once again.
